Grant Museum Prepares To Reopen, Screens Cult Sci-Fi Classic

For a museum that few people have heard of, and which currently has no physical existence, UCL’s Grant Museum does a sterling job of putting on interesting events. The latest treat from the zoologically flavoured institution is a special screening of The Fly; not the gory Jeff Goldblum flick, but the 1958 original. The film marks the start of the Grant Museum’s Natural Change season; ironic, really, given that the transmogrification at the centre of the film is anything but natural…unless that’s an organically grown teleportation device. Grant Museum of Zoology to Close

Just a quick note to say that if you’ve never visited the Grant Museum of Zoology, get down there pronto. This wonderful cabinet of anatomical curiosities is set to close on July 1 for at least half a year while they move to roomier quarters. The museum, currently located on the site of Darwin’s Gower Street pad, will shift their 62,000 zoological specimens round the corner to the Rockefeller Building on University Street.
