Wishing and hoping for mass spectrometry

In this month’s Technology Feature several key developers of mass spectrometry technology share their wishes for the future of this technology. Did your hope for the next innovation in mass spectrometry make the list? If not, here is your opportunity to add wishes, hopes or comments – and let the developers know what advances you would like to see in the coming years.

I agree with your Technology Feature that software remains a significant bottleneck in the analysis of mass spectrometric data. What is clear is that there currently exists no effective solution that can handle the acquisition, analysis, validation, and management of proteomics data. Although the component parts continue to be developed, they are often not cross-compatible. I believe that an integrated pipeline for proteomics data handling is a hugely important goal.
