    To answer the question “benefits and risks of FURTHER research” the question of whether there can be any strategies arising from the research that can be used to decrease the risk of a pandemic or defend against a pandemic it it were to arise. We now know that it can arise by two different changes (and likely others) so there appears to be nothing specific to defend against.
