Please explain how parasitic worms "cause diseases such as leprosy." I understand leprosy is caused by a bacteria Mycobacterium leprae.

The indian population is sizable.

Most of the indian urban and rural population has not yet been conscious of the need for public sanitation. In fact, for most of the illness prevailing in India the route cause is the lack of a good sanitation facility. The government and NGOs are doing their bit. But a cultural renaissance literally is required at every level. The global initiative should be concerned about this issue and start the remedy early in the right earnest.
