Binocular vision is also good for walking. Many many years ago I was out with a group of people on a picnic. Leaving a grassy area and stepping down onto the footpath we all managed it successfully except for one person in the group who stumbled and nearly twisted her ankle. It turned out that she couldn't perceive depth and hadn't realised there was a drop there. In a jungle or forest environment with a regularly uneven ground such stereoblindness would be an extreme handicap (and lethal if there is a predator chasing!)
