To be blunt: All dressed up
Looking for the point of seemingly pointless research.
"Well-dressed women get better service at clothing stores," says the press-release headline.
For a stylish columnist such as myself, particularly one who is seeking the point of seemingly obvious research, this is like a red rag to a bull. Don't even start me on the way I was treated at stores on Fifth Avenue the other day when I happened to be in my sweatpants. It was worse than that scene from Pretty Woman.

It happens in every area of retail. My fiance and I were shopping for an ATV. The salespeople knew we were there but wouldn't wait on us. There were others being waited upon, guys with SUVs, pickups and baseball caps, all white middle-aged type fellows. I was wearing a T-shirt, cardigan sweater and jeans, all old. My fiance was wearing a T-shirt, jeans ripped were his prosthetic knee sticks out, and some old bandana tied around his head. Ironically, we were probably one of few shoppers in the area who could have paid cash.

It do happen to me once when i went to a rolex watch shop. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The salesman will not even entertain me seeing i am not dressed up. Looks like we have to wear a tag around our neck saying "i have cash" then the salesperson would attend to you. This world is too materialistic.
