Socialites need more sleep
Flies with a busy social life take longer naps.
A hectic social life makes a fruitfly take longer naps, according to a new study. This seemingly simple finding could prove important in helping to understand why we sleep, and what effect socializing has on our brain circuitry.

i think the study just suggests that social activity has something to do with sleep.
How can we conclude that sleep is related to social memory?
what is the index for social memory?
[Hello - the editor here. On the surface it looks like this study has shown only a link between flying around with other flies versus being alone and the effect on sleep, which could be a result of many, many things. But the group's work on memory-related genes (see our story) seems to me a more persuasive link with social memory]
