Fake pesticides pose threat
Flood of counterfeit chemicals is harming people and industry.
An industry body has issued a warning to European farmers buying cut-price pesticides for their fields: some cheap products, it says, could be a fake.

The uncertainty of which pesticides are actually used on your food is another good reason to buy organic whenever possible. Environmental Working Group's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce lists the 12 produce items with the highest and lowest pesticide residues. If you can only afford to buy some items organic, this guide can help you determine which to buy.

If you can only afford to buy some items organic, buy none at all. Buy more cheaper conventionally produced fruit and vegetables: you are at much greater risk from underconsuming these than from pesticide residues.
