Cloned animals deemed safe to eat
US regulators prepare to OK food made from cloned animals.
The US government has released a draft proposal declaring that food from cloned cattle, pigs and goats is "likely to be as safe as" food from their non-cloned counterparts. The draft, released yesterday, arrives more than five years after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requested a voluntary moratorium on the use of cloned animals or their offspring for food until their safety could be assessed.

I dislike the idea of eating meat from a cloned animal. Therefore, I recommend such meat will be labeled clearly indicating whether it's from cloned animal or not, thus allowing people the freedom of choice.

Modified genes can be easily introduced while manipulating the eggcells, but more danger can cause for us, humans, the fact that our body is going to receive something "new", something that will not alter us, the present adult generation, but creating this window, our children might suffer in next generations. The pressure must exist, to accept these new methods, when we think that each one things in terms of his own gain, but do we want mutation to be the answer to our new achievments? Do we want to bring human to a new level of flesh-and- blood- aspect or to a new level of consiousness?
Science, discoveries on one side, science fiction on the other, may bring us to the state of wishing...more and more...new ...better, but are there really no limits, no examples of human incapacity to forsee danger, concerning him and his environment?
Must we hurry? We haven't yet seen the results of additives in food and genetic engineered crops and we quickly decide to move on? How old are the cells of these "new" calves?
If I could find in the supermarket a place called: "Food for kids"- until 10 or 20;"Food for those who work using their muscle strength"; "Food for those who want to live forever"; food for teachers, doctors, very old persons, people who want to die in one year, etc.then maybe I could be assured I have a free choice and I could have the feeling of freedom, but until that day...I shall still feel manipulated in creating my health and through this, my descendants future, according to rules and opprtunities in which I can not gain access to change them to better.
