Perhaps this concept would work well for wildland firefighting backpacks. Wildland firefighters packs weigh on average 35lbs. Firefighters fight fire for long shifts ( to 12-16hrs+. Federal government and private contactor firefighters obtain packs from various commerical sources. Improvements would be welcome.

perhaps as well something like this can help solve the problem of sweat buildup on ones back from a pack...

I think most backpackers would prefer a bungee "keeper" at the bottom end of the 2nd shoulder strap they put on, so they could get their arm through it without ripping their cuffs or getting skin abrasions; then a simple way to tighten up the shoulder strap, once on, to the preadjusted length. Maybe I'll try to invent it.
