An hourglass waistline has impressed men for centuries.

Of all the ingredients that make up the ideal female form, it isn’t the most obvious winner. But researchers claim that, for enduring popularity down the ages, nothing beats a narrow waistline.

I think the slim waistline is perceived as desirable because it simply emphasizes the larger breasts and hips

Be suspicious of data collected from literary sources.It shows what the authors thought is important not what people are attracted to. There is also a bias in the use of terms searched for.
maybe a literary research topic but hardly scientific.
