Cooking up a smoky solution
Texan mesquite could offer cheap biofuel resource.
The mesquite tree is perhaps best known for its ability to lend that smoky flavour to an old-fashioned southern barbecue. But Texan researchers are now hoping that it might also help to relieve the dependence of the United States on fossil fuels.

Comments
This brings to mind a dusky evening years ago. Hacking at a mesquite bush with a small hatchet, visible sparks were produced. One might suspect this plant to consist of silicon as much as carbon. If fuel is more
desired than clearing, a hedge topping type harvest might be better.
