APS April 2008: The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything
At APS, there are the invited talks, and then there are the talks that might affectionately be known as the “crackpot” talks. Any member of APS, regardless of their background or affiliation, can submit an abstract and give a 10 minute talk. Nothing is rejected.
So about once a day, there's a session with a coded title like “Unconventional ideas in XXXX.” That's where the weird ones go. Sunday morning, Sunil Thakur, with an affiliation of “Individual Research”, was scheduled to give a talk on the “Nature of Reality.” In the abstract, Thakur promised to explain that “how the reality is revealed does not depend only on the properties of the reality itself but also depends on the properties of the medium through which the object is manifested.”
It looks like last year, Thakur submitted an abstract on black holes, where he claimed that temperature affects the speed of light. But today he didn't show up, and the session ended early. Everyone filed out of the room, maybe a touch disappointed.
“I wanted to learn the nature of reality,” muttered one young physicist, not without sarcasm. “Now I have to find something else to do.”

Dear Mr. Eric
I was directed to this blog by one of my associates. I am as disappointed as the rest of you on my failure to attend the meeting due to some unavoidable circumstances.
I have just completed my work on 'nature of reality'.
My observation that time runs extremely fast in the black hole is based on my idea of relationship between space, matter, time, and motion.

I find justifiable sarcasm in your post but nature and enormity of the subject and indeed of the title of the blog require more careful and considerate approach. I am sure that I will have a fair opportunity to justify what I have stated in my abstract. I must state here that it would have been an honor to present my paper to such an august audience.
I am a touch disappointed with your posting esp. considering the title that aptly describes my theory. Even I would not have thought about such description of my theory even though with all the humility and the audacity of a person who knows, I assure you that my theory describes life, universe, and everything including philosophy. I will explain my point of view as briefly and in as simple a language as I can.
If you will read my paper then I have made for more significant observations esp. on the nature of light and space and matter. My statement that matter does not distort space; matter is distorted space is my most significant observation. This observation is directly related to the nature of reality; in fact, it sums up the reality. If I do not justify this comment then I would be justifying your comments in the post but both Einstein and Lorentz have said the same thing in round about ways.
Let us examine what Lorentz has to say on the relationship between space and matter,
“Indeed one of the most important of our fundamental assumptions must be that the ether not only occupies all space between molecules, atoms, or electrons, but that it pervades all these particles.”
Now let us see what Einstein has to say,
“ in the foundations of any consistent field theory the particle concept must not appear in addition to the field concept.”
“The field thus becomes an irreducible element of physical description, irreducible in the same sense as the concept of matter (particles) in the theory of Newton.”
“The particle can only appear as a limited region in space in which the field strength or the energy density are particularly high.”
The last two lines state the same thing that I have stated but because Einstein was working with the general relativity as the base, there appears a conflict because general relativity suggests matter distorts space which means space and matter are two different entities. What Einstein was getting to while working on ‘Unified Field Theory’ was contradictory to what he had concluded in general relativity.
From this statement, we have to move to his previous statement that field becomes an irreducible element of physical description…
What it means is that a state may be reached when there is no distortion of space or in other words, when there is absolute supersymmetry in the field. We get a glimpse of this space in the form of voids from where no information is generated. In fact, if were to go by the concept of black holes then voids are the black holes of the universe because the black holes are the areas of maximum distortion and must generate plenty of radiation in the infrared region whereas the voids are the areas of least distortion and hence generate negligible information. The voids exist in each atom. More than 99% of the space in atoms appears to be empty but we know absolute emptiness does not exist in nature. This space in atom is nearly supersymmetrical and therefore is unperceivable.
My idea of reality is,
Of course, reality must be a physical entity because we do not want to deal with abstract phenomenon. Reality also must be one and existence of everything else in the universe should be explainable through this physical reality. Thirdly, reality must not have any properties. It is the third point that I must clarify. If there is one reality then it must be able to project all the perceivable properties and if reality has a property then it certainly cannot have some other property. If it has brightness as a property then it cannot have darkness as its property but we have brightness and darkness. Therefore, reality must not have any inherent property and yet it must be able to project all the properties. It is not such a big ask because even our TV screen projects fire and water simultaneously without being affected by the nature of the information being projected.
That such an entity exists in physical form is evident from the CMBR. CMBR is indicative of presence of matter in a particular region.
Space is the only reality; everything else is mere manifestation of this space. Space is devoid of any properties including dimensions and motion. I have justified this statement later in this post.
Matter is the regions of space where field densities varies or in other words where space is distorted or in other words where supersymmetry of the space is violated. Obviously, idea of motion cannot be associated with such a space.
We can see an apparent duality everywhere in the universe; supersymmetrical space is unperceivable, distorted space is perceivable; motion cannot exist in universe and yet motion is a reality in the manifested world; there is absoluteness in the form of space and yet there is relativity in the universe. Once we understand the cause of the duality then there remains no confusion.
The equation x*0 = 0 is the only valid equation in the universe. The only valid equation in the real world can result in complete collapse of mathematics of perceptible universe unless we consciously decide that we will not take the implications of this equations beyond this equation. This equation does not say 1=2; it says that one and two are same. Quantum entanglement explained in such a simple equation. It is the brevity of expression that is astonishing. Brahmabhatt, the Indian cosmologist who brought the concept of zero from cosmology to mathematics had absolutely no difficulty in deciding that the result of the equation x*0 should be; however, he was confused about the result of x/0 because division does not exist in nature. You cannot divide one by two or two by four or six or whatever. It was Aryabhatt who suggested that x divided by zero must be referred to as undeterminable result or infinity. It is like Chinese letter ‘Mu’ which is an answer and yet it means no answer. Supersymmetrical space is represented in mathematics by numeral ‘zero’.
I will now explain my basic ideas on the first point raised by you regarding how properties of the medium through which object is manifested affects what is being manifested in as simple a language as possible. These simple observations have enormous implications.
A puzzle cannot be resolved unless the solution of the puzzle rests in the puzzle itself. We will resolve this puzzle through the puzzle itself.
Everything in the universe is constantly changing; galaxies are drifting apart, sun and all other stars are cooling down and so is CMBR. What is, will never be. This is one perspective.
When we view first law of thermodynamics alongside the law of conservation of mass-energy then we realize that matter cannot be created or destroyed; matter can only change form. No creation or destruction is possible in nature. Things do not develop or deteriorate in nature; things only change form. Therefore, what is, always was, and always will be. This is another perspective.
The challenge for a theory is not in combining theory of relativity with quantum mechanics but is to combine these two perspectives and find order in the apparently relative and hence uncertain world.
Light is such an important tool in our understanding of the universe that we must first try and understand nature of light.
Basic physics of sense of sight is quite simple except that it does not explain how we perceive light. Dark-adopted human eye can detect a single photon but we do not know how! Obvious answer is that we can sense the light wherever it is. This simple observation has enormous implications therefore I must validate it experimentally. All one needs to do is go one step beyond the routine double-slit experiment and make two holes, one each on the dark band and on the bright band and peep through this holes. I need not tell you that you will be able to see plenty of light through both the holes even though no light is supposed to be reaching the dark band due to destructive interference. It will not be possible for me to discuss other experiments conducted by me but it is quite an obvious phenomenon. Just think about it and you will get ample evidences to support this conclusion.
Obviously, light cannot carry information. The evidence of this is even more obvious. We cannot see the sun even when it is in our line-of-sight. We have to look at the sun directly to be able to see the sun, which means mere act of, absorption of photons emitted by the sun do not make the sun visible to us!
I had made some very important observations on the nature of light in my abstract of the APS talk but at that time I was working on some very complicated experiments to prove my point but then I went back to nature and could get the evidences from the nature. Knowledge blinds…veil of the knowledge is the most dangerous veil and a scientist can ill-afford to be blinded by his knowledge. I realized that It is good to have a hypothesis for it keeps you focused but it is better not to have any hypothesis because it keeps one’s mind open. Whatever is, must evolve itself indisputably.
Nothing, not even energy is bestowed with the powers of self-manifestation and needs a medium through which information about its existence can be manifested. There is a subtle difference between what Jordan has to say and what this theory proposes. I am suggesting that objects exist independent of the observer but manifestation of the object needs a medium. Information about the existence of the Sun exists at all points in the solar system (and even outside) but the information remains unmanifested in the absence of the matter as is the case in the space outside the atmosphere of the earth that is cool and dark.
Universe is, as we perceive it. We can only know what our sense organs allow us to know. While we can augment the range of information perceived by our sense organs (like by using telescopes or microscopes) we cannot perceive anything if the object is not generating information in the perceivable format. We can only augment our range of observation and can perceive an object even if it is generating information beyond the range of our sense organs but if object is not generating information in perceivable format then we can never know about its existence. For us, universe is only a pool of information and objects are nothing but our interpretation of the information. We have to train our brain to interpret information. Information becomes information only if we can make sense of it otherwise it is garbage or at best, is disturbance. Nothing exists for us except information. Central Nervous System only understands the language of impulses; it recognizes certain impulses as an image, certain other impulses as sound, and certain other impulses as feelings. ‘Consciousness is the conserved information.’ If one wants to identify consciousness with the effect then, ‘Consciousness is the realization of the potentiality to react/respond to stimuli’. Taking notice of something is also a reaction/response. All systems have the capacity to access all the information in the universe. The information that a system develops the ability to access is its individual consciousness. Nothing in the universe is abstract but is physical and hence can be explained through simple physics.
Based on the above observations, we can conclude that manifested form of an entity depends on following three factors:
a. Properties of the object
b. Nature and the quantum of information generated by the object
c. Properties of the medium
I will explain these points through a simple analogy. Nature and quantum of the electricity and the properties of the electric bulb both determine nature and quantum of the light generated. It depends on the properties of the observer whether it can perceive light or not e.g., we cannot see infrared light.
These three factors are the genesis of all the relativity in the universe including the relativity emerging out of Lorentz Transformation.
It would be prudent to briefly explain my idea of time. Time is the process through which distorted space achieved supersymmetry in its structure. This process is the genesis of all other processes in the universe. These processes go at ultra fast speed in the distorted space and go very slowly in supersymmetrical space. More distorted the space is, faster the time runs in the space. This is the essence of Lorentz Transformation; length contraction and time dilation take place in same proportion and hence universe would achieve absolute supersymmetry simultaneously at all points of space. Relativity emerges when we account only for one phenomenon. Speed of light, absolute speed of light must remain constant! It is only in the relative world that we observe variations in the speed of light like variations due to change of medium.
Lorentz transformation allows us to find order in the relative world because length contraction and time dilation takes place in same proportions.
I think I have adequately explained in detail one part of the theory that you have referred to in your post.
It is in the light of the above analysis that I have made the statement that space has no inherent properties. What we cannot perceive does not exist. Perception is not the function of sense organs only; our brain interprets the information forwarded to it by the sense organs. Therefore, if information exists in the format unperceivable by us then such information does not exist for us.
Space may have eleven or may be hundred and eleven dimensions but if we try to explain space through extra dimensions then such an explanation will suffer from internal conflicts and our present mathematics will be inadequate to explain such a theory. The idea of extra dimension will be just incomprehensible fir us. An object may have numerous properties that we may not perceive; therefore such properties simply do not exist for us.
What is perceivable is relative and what is relative cannot be real. This is one perspective. Other perspective is that everything is mere manifestation of space and therefore in its own right is reality. Which perspective appeals to you, depends on you.
Based on my understanding of the reality and the universe, I can say that dice falls exactly where it must, exactly at the moment it must, and exactly in the manner it must. Some of us, including myself may believe that sometimes God takes undue advantage of being the almighty God that he is but if God exists then even he has to follow all the rules that he has made for managing the universe.
I may be obliged to feel that I was unlucky to miss the opportunity at APS conference because circumstances were such that I was not able to attend the conference but I know there were certain aspects pertaining to my theory that needed a re-look; not surprisingly, I was directed to your blog the day I finished my work. The laws of nature are such that I was destined to announce it through your blog that what is real, is unperceivable; what is perceivable is only distorted form of reality!
I am sure that you will appreciate the fact that it is not possible for me to explain all the statements that I have made in this post because of lack of space and the complexities of the issues involved therefore I have only explained the logic behind my observations.
We are not designed to move in jumps, either physically or mentally, and hence each step is important, each step is a move forward. My work is one such step….

In my last post, I have made some extremely important observations esp. on the space and time and one might wonder whether these observations make any sense and whether these observations can be experimentally validated.
We need to get inside a BE-Condensate and a black hole to see these processes at work.
In my last post, I have mentioned that matter is distorted space. Black holes are the areas of maximum distortion in the space as the field density is very high. In other words, black holes are the areas where density is very high as matter is stacked together quite closely in relatively small area. No one knows what a singularity is, nor do I. Idea of singularities simply does not appeal to me. Time must run very fast in the black holes.
BE-Condensate is closest we can get to a black hole!!! In BE-Condensate, several atoms combine and behave like one super atom and form an area of high distortion of space. Obviously, time must run very fast in BE-Condensate and therefore matter appears as strings in the BE-Condensate and speed of light slows down considerably.
Is speed of light is any clue then speed of about 60 kilometers per second means our one second is equal to about 1.3 hours of the BE-Condensate. We only take into account the length contraction in BE-Condensate and hence speed of light appears to slow down but when time dilation is also accounted for then we are back to normal speed of light. Speed of light remains constant in all conditions. Relativity of the speed of light is an illusion.
No wonder that matter appears as strings in the BE-Condensate because movement is ultra-fast and is concentrated in a very narrow region. It is like headlights of a moving car appearing as strings in image taken with slow-shutter speed. Headlight move at very high speed for the observing medium (camera) and hence appear as strings.
As I have mentioned earlier, length contraction and time dilation go together. Length and time contract is same proportion. Light must travel millions of kilometer in one second because length has expanded and time runs very slowly and hence absolute speed of light would remain constant.
This is the real meaning of constancy of the speed of light.
Denser the medium, slower is the speed of light. Temperature affects density and therefore must affect speed of light. By the way, temperature, light, and speed of light are all manifested information and hence are relative phenomenon. Everything is relative in the perceptible universe and therefore everything depends on one’s reference frame. Does this statement take us to the twin paradox? No, in any given condition time runs at a specific pace for each system. Therefore, we can only say that time is running slower or faster for a particular system as compared to another specific system. X and Y may appear to be in motion when viewed from each-other’s reference frame but science does not deal with appearances. X is operating in specific conditions that determine at what pace time must flow for him and Y is operating in another set of condition that determine at what pace time must flow for him. Change is caused by the variations in the conditions and not the reference frame.
The essence of relativity is in realization that different conditions affect different systems differently and this difference is perceived by different systems differently. We do not see objects individually, everything in our viewing area is presented to us as one unit with each point being manifested relative to everything else in the viewing area.
These statements appear to be very simple but have enormous implications on our understanding of nature. The real beauty is that as soon as we realize how information is manifested then it is all so easy to find evidences in almost all observed phenomenon. It seems so obvious that one wonders how we could have missed it for so long.
Just think about how beautifully nature manages the universe. The very process that maintains order in the universe causes all the relativity.
