Science tattoo collection reaches 100 - December 11, 2007
I’ve been waiting for this excuse to blog about Carl Zimmer’s Science Tattoo collection – the 100th tattoo has gone online. Not that Carl himself has 100 science tattoos; the centenary entry in his collection is from Michelle Vieyra, of the University of South Carolina, who has a tasteful sea turtle and DNA motif (blog post).
The full set ranges from simple neurons to full body entomology pieces. As far as we can make out though Carl is as yet un-inked...

Guys, think twice before making a tattoo. It will always remain with you, so it must bear a specific meaning. My friend is a painter&a tattooist, so sometimes he creates patterns himself, sometimes he combines tribals from different cultures. But the picture should be in harmony with your soul.
I am looking for a picture for my tattoo and still I think I will stop on tribals. They have had their special compressed meanings for centuries. Indeed, I found many pictures and a couple of books on tattoes at http://www.picktorrent.com and now I am "digesting" the information)).
That is why I find it unwise to cover your body with countless grids, long quotations from science fiction films and books etc. as they bear only comparatively temporary meaning.
