Unsubstantiated claim of the week - July 25, 2008

mitchell on moon.jpgEdgar Mitchell has been making some interesting claims this week. The former astronaut, who served on the Apollo 14 mission, told a rock radio station that NASA was covering up evidence of aliens.

“I know for sure we’re not alone in the universe,” he told Kerrang! Radio (listen here). “I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we have been visited on this planet.”

The claim made headlines in several papers, despite the fact that Mitchell has something of a history of outlandish claims.

NASA’s surprisingly restrained response:

NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe. Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinion on this issue.

Has there been any such alien encounter why it got restricted to U.S.A.only ?Is it only because NASA establishment would greet them
and a crazy astronaut lives there to announce the arrival?
Its all hoax and surprisingly comes from a country which boasts of its scientific progress and technological achievements.
News like such make the works of science communicators even more difficult.I strongly condemn such false claims aimed to attract media attention for cheap popularity.

It is just another crazy hoax, right?? Well if it is it is,then he is about the third or fourth astronaut that has said the same exact thing. Also J.Allen Hyneck who headed project blue book denying UFO"s siad the same thing after he retired from working for the gov. just coincidence though! or another crazy hoaxer!

Bill Moore

another general aviation pilot who saw something "NOT SWAMP GAS" !! :}
