The Daily Dose – The writer who couldn’t read

Today’s dose examines a novelist suffering from a mysterious neurological ailment.

NPR brings us the tale of Howard Engel, a mystery writer who woke up one morning and found that he was unable to make sense of the written word. Though he could still form letters with a pencil, the disconnect between his eyes and brain forced him to invent a novel method for reading.
