Hi everyone, sorry for the prolonged silence. Just got back from vacation in Nova Scotia, a mere 12-hour drive north of Boston. Highly recommended for those in search of a peaceful, quite, relaxing vacation. You don’t realize how fast-paced life can be in Boston until you go to a place where people drive below the speed limit!
One of our bloggers, Milan, told me yesterday about this interesting website out of the UK called Lablit.com, which explores the intersection of science and culture/art/fiction. It features fiction, essays, reviews and editorials about science and lab life (most written by scientists), which have given me some ideas about articles we might be producing here on NNB.
I read a bit of the fiction. It’s definitely no Shakespeare but it is interesting to see lab life as a subject for creative fiction writing.
It also has forums, with discussions among scientists on a wide range of topics, from “science and film and TV” to “science and religion”. Some thoughtful and provoking conversations there.
We’re hoping to have some of the same kind of discussion on NNB when we get our discussion forums up and running. We’re working on a pretty serious revamping of the site that will include the forums along with other improvements. Please stay tuned!
