To any budding scientists out there – here is some weekend reading for you. Job website CareerCast recently revealed what it thinks are the 200 best and worst jobs in the US at the moment.

Apparently biologists are living large, coming in at number four, just behind actuaries, software engineers and computer systems analysts. Mathematicians don’t do badly either, appearing at number six.

Potential astronomers, physicists, and geologists can also take heart as they appear at 25, 27 and 32 respectively.

Those considering becoming zoologists or agricultural scientists might want to reconsider though, as these professions only merit rankings of 76 and 111.

News reporters? They feature way down in 185, a number of places below even nuclear plant decontamination technicians. Still, at least we’re doing better than the roustabouts, who come in last.
