Is this the “most awesome photo of the shuttle ever”, as one Nature team member would have it? It shows the shuttle Endeavour approaching the International Space Station for docking on 9 February.

For my money, it’s just beaten by this one, but it’s a close run thing.

Astronauts from the space shuttle have been working away on the ISS, attaching new modules and windows. Although there are various reports of frustrations over stuck bolts and potential rogue wires, they did succeed in installing the new ‘cupola’ – a giant window that will let ISS-dwellers see out into space, and hopefully take more pictures like this one.
