The Queen guitarist will take up the figurehead position of Chancellor at Liverpool John Moores University in the new year, replacing Cherie Blair.

May, who recently received a doctorate in astrophysics from Imperial College, will represent John Moores on special occasions, and preside over graduation ceremonies.
