The numbers of antibiotic resistant microbes are on the rise, but the search for new drugs that can combat them remains difficult. That’s why “Extending the Cure", a project of the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy in Washington, DC launched their ResistanceMap yesterday. The online tool identifies key areas in the US in need of further surveillance and interventions. In future, the “Extending the Cure” team plans to make these maps interactive, allowing users to zoom in on certain geographical regions and compare rates of antibiotic use to resistance.
