What with all the Londony anniversaries lately – Henry VIII, Mary Woollstonecraft, the Jubilee Line, Thames Barrier and Kew Gardens… – I took my eye off the main man for a few weeks. And, lo, Darwin bounces back with yet another imaginative idea to celebrate his bicentenary.
A life sciences tag team of the Grant Museum, Horniman Museum, Institute of Biology and Wellcome Trust has launched a Darwinian photography competition. They’re after images that encapsulate the theme of the exploration and investigation of nature. Could be on an exotic Pacific island, could be in your own back yard. The winners will be exhibited at the Horniman at the end of the year. Enter here.
While we’re talking about photo exhibitions, I can’t resist plugging the Slow Down London images on display at Ray’s Jazz Cafe in Foyle’s until the end of the month. The competition to capture shots of a chilled London was organised by my other blog, Londonist, and features work by another Nature Network blogger. Well done Mr Keir!
