The presidential search is now down to about 10 candidates, including Tom Cech, head of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Steve Hyman, Harvard’s provost (see this article from the Globe)
Looks like the search committee has learned a lesson from the Summers controversy and is homing in on people with experience in university administration.
We should find out in the next month or two who will take the helm at Harvard and whether that person will be a scientist.
