Yesterday was Drew Faust’s first day at work as Harvard president. Not normally a news-making event, but I suspect public scrutiny will be high, higher than usual for a Harvard president because Faust is a woman and has a lot of work ahead of her to heal the wounds left by her controversial predecessor.
A sign of this heightened attention is the article in the Globe today about Drew Faust’s first day at work. Nothing really newsworthy happened (she served ice cream), but still, it was apparently enough to warrant a story. It basically reiterated all the challenges she faces: uniting a decentralized university, raising money and developing the Allston science campus.
Her management style will definitely be in the spotlight, since, her predecessor’s rubbed so many people the wrong way.
