This combi-countenance, to coin a phrase, was generated by one of the consoles at the new Wellcome Collection. The machine scans in the visitor’s features and generates an averaged face based on previous participants from the same locality.

The photo above melds the visages of everyone, male or female, who declared themselves a Londoner on the system – including yours truly. You can also generate average looks for a variety of groups, such as smokers and vegetarians.

The image was created from only 52 people, so it will be interesting to see how the ultimate ‘mean face’ evolves when more people are added.
