A few recent papers report on significant technological advances in in vivo imaging:
- In vivo imaging of germinal centres reveals a dynamic open structure (Schwickert et al, 2007)
- Imaging cellular network dynamics in three dimensions using fast 3D laser scanning (Göbel et al, 2007)
- Artificial reporter gene providing MRI contrast based on proton exchange (Gilad et al, 2007).
Is this systems biology? Well, if system=cell, no. But if system=organism (multicellular), it is crucial to integrate cellular behavior into the larger context of the entire organism.
