Mark Kelly, husband of Gabrielle Giffords, the US congresswoman shot last month (see Anatomy of a brain injury), is likely to command the next Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station, reports Politico. The shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to launch on 19 April.

Kelly will announce his decision at a NASA press conference later today.
