The Globe has a big take out on MIT’s new cancer research building, funded in part by conservative gazzilionaire David Koch. In a sidebar bar based on a 20 minute interview, kock, whi is in town for the building’s dedication, he said his " political activities and philanthropic causes represent separate aspects of his life."
“The way I look at it is, cancer research is absolutely nonpartisan,‘’ Koch said. "Cancer is very democratic in the sense that it attacks people regardless of their race, their gender, their national background, or their political persuasions.’’
The way some other look at it, Koch’s involvement in effort to limit the power of the EPAsuggest he’s serious about treating cancer, but not about preventing it. See this post
and links to the New Yorker article for more on that. And see this link to the Koch’s response, in which he dismisses some of his critics as “left-leaning” radicals.
