MA governor to announce $1B plan for life sciences

Later today at BIO, Governor Deval Patrick will unveil a new plan to borrow $1 billion for life sciences research in the state including the creation of an embryonic stem cell bank. More on that soon.

Here’s an update from the Globe. The $1 billion would reportedly come from bonds and appropriations, something bound to be controversial as that could be money spent elsewhere in the state. This proposal would need approval from Beacon Hill.
