Nature Network in The Guardian

Fame at last – of sorts. Today’s Guardian is running a feature on Nature Network. And it sounds like we’re building some kind of dating network…

“A popular new site could see scientists exchanging ideas, posting data … and even finding love online…like Facebook, the scientists who use it are mainly in their late 20s and early 30s and may be hoping to discover a life-, as well as a research-, partner online.”

Well, I don’t intend to put on a Cilla Black ginger wig anytime soon, but if you guys clamour for it…you never know.

The article raises some interesting viewpoints. One commenter likes the absence of status markers. Our Director predicts that comments, blogs and data from experiments may one day count towards research output. And then there’s the anonymous lecturer who thinks we ‘could be “dangerous” because comments are not peer-reviewed’.

It’s nice to get the press attention. But there is one factual error…I don’t normally look so sinister
