Now here’s an idea I really should have got round to doing myself: an iPhone app listing all the science and technology hotspots in London.
FourEyesUp (not sure I get the name…is it a US thing?) is a worldwide site, offering top tips for sci-tech travellers. Conference attendees, for example. Their new app is aimed specifically at London at covers the following themes:

Astronomy
Computing
Industry
Media
Museums
Nature
Science (general)
Where to learn
Where to play
Where to shop
Where to stay
Like any good travel guide, the app also has sections on London practicalities (but with a geeky bent, such as who to follow on Twitter, what blogs to read, meetups, etc.).
As well as browsing the above directories, you can also ask the app to find places of interest close to your current location.
I’ve got to say, the insights and writing here are spot on. I learned a thing or two, even though I’ve been writing about science in London every day for five years (and creating my own maps). The guides to London geek shopping is particularly inspired.
The app is stripped back, to-the-point and informative. You’re not going to be blown away in a visual maelstrom, but this is an app for scientists, technologists and geeks, after all.
FourEyesUp for London is available now from the Apple app store, price 59p.
