For those out there interested in a career in teaching after your PhD, here’s a new program for you. According to Science, Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences recently announced that it will hire up to 20 new PhDs to teach undergraduate courses. It basically sounds like a teaching postdoc, but with full benefits. Each position would only be for a year, with the possibility of extending to a second year. These fellows would be expected to take on 70 percent of the teaching load of a faculty member.
These positions could provide a temporary place to park until the job market opens up a bit.
Has anyone heard of other similar new programs?
