While Frank’s obsessing over fibreglass elephants, I’ve been checking out an ursine invasion at Selfridges (what, me, with my reputation?). The good people at the WWF asked leading British artists to do something interesting with the charity’s panda collection boxes. The results, collectively called Pandamonium, don’t disappoint.

My favourite has to be the panda ensmble by Jason Bruges. A grid of menacing munchkin bears rotate to stare at anyone who comes near them. A bit like this:

Elsewhere, you’ll find a zinc bear, a golden bear, a melted bear, a white cast of a bear (by Rachel Whiteread, of course), and some can’t-be-arsed crap by Tracey Emin (not pictured).

Bless my barnacles

The show runs until 28 October at the western end (ground floor) of Selfridges. At the end of the exhibition, all pandas will be auctioned off to raise money for the WWF.
