Recent appointments

A quick round-up of notable London appointments over the past week.

David McComb of the Department of Materials, Imperial College becomes co-Director of the London Centre for Nanotechnology. The centre brings together researchers from UCL and Imperial to develop, exploit and commercialise nanotechnology. His counterpart from UCL, Gabriel Aeppli, said in a press statement: “David has been a leader in the development of the LCN, notably in securing the funding that led to the acquisition of the new Titan Transmission Electron Microscope. I am looking forward to working with David to continue our major successes in both research and knowledge transfer.”

Jayne Lawrence is appointed as Chief Scientific Advisor to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Lawrence is Professor of Biophysical Pharmaceutics at King’s College. She will ‘provide scientific advice and expertise to the Society and its Council and will work to develop the Society’s portfolio of science activity’.

Finally, Yuti Chernajovsky, Director of the ARC Bone and Joint Research Unit at the William Harvey Research Institute, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. Chernajovsky is also ARC Professor of Rheumatology at Queen Mary, University of London.
