RI Science Pub Quiz: Some Scientific Anagrams

A couple of nights back, I co-hosted the latest ‘pub’ quiz at the Royal Institution. We set the questions at a particularly fiendish level this time round, and scores ranged from about 30 to 48 out of 60. I’m not going to bore you by listing the questions from every round, but I’ll throw up the two picture rounds for your puzzlement.

First off, here’s the anagrams round. Can you name the six well-known scientists scrambled below? Please leave a comment to say how you did, and any given commenter is allowed to reveal one of the solutions, so that several people get the chance.

1. A CHLAMYDIAE FEAR

2. AROUSES TULIP

3. A WOMAN JESTS

4. CARDINAL SHREW

5. CONTAINS AWE

6. RESIGN AS NEEDFUL

The next quiz will be on the third Monday of March. Watch this space…
