Royal Institution Christmas Lectures Start Tonight

The title almost says it all. The world’s most famous series of lectures*, now in their 185th year, are back on the BBC tonight. Materials scientist Mark Miodownik of Kings College London takes ‘size’ as the theme of his talks, which should be interesting on…ahem…a number of levels.

UK viewers can watch the lectures (aimed at children, but always fascinating for adults too) at 8pm tonight, Wednesday and Thursday on BBC4; they will also be available on iPlayer. Overseas people, looks like you’re relegated to the 20th Century and will have to wait until March to order a DVD.

*Well, OK, maybe TED talks are now more famous.
