Royal Society of Chemistry Seeks Chewing Gum Artist

The RSC, ever on the lookout for a crafty bit of publicity, have turned to graffiti artist Ben Wilson with a rather creative commission. Ben is famous (in certain circles) for painting tiny images on spent globs of chewing gum. You can see some of his work in this Flickr gallery.

The RSC are hoping he’ll paint them a series depicting the 117 known elements. They’ve even offered a reward of £117 to whomever puts them in touch (according to @RSCPressOffice, they’ve now succeeded).

It remains to be seen whether the artist will opt for a space-filling, orbital representation, simple Periodic Table designations or something more abstract. Just be careful not to tread on the plutonium.
