Science policy and funding: your opinions needed

Couple of activities for anyone with a few minutes to spare this weekend and something to say about science.

Firstly, you may remember a few months ago Dr Evan Harris chairing a panel at the Royal Institution on science careers. On the panel was David Willetts MP who asked fellow panelist and Science is Vital founder Jenny Rohn to put together a document summarizing the points raised at the RI. For the last three months, Science is Vital has been collecting your thoughts on the problems with careers in science in the UK and the deadline of 30th September is rapidly approaching. To have your say, please go to Science is Vital and fill in the comment form. You will also have a chance to rank issues in order of importance to you.

Secondly, the MRC is holding a public consultation to better understand the link between R&D funding and economic impact. To help them make better decisions about funding health research, researchers, policy makers and the general public are invited to take their survey covering a range of topics. Deadline: 7th October, for a discussion on 26th October.
