New event starting in the autumn in London which might be interesting to the scientists and sci-commers amongst you: Science Showoff, described by organisers as an open mic night for scientists, science communicators, science teachers, historians and philosophers of science, students, science popularisers and anyone else with something to show off about science.
It will take a simple format: two hour long sessions with an interval, broken down into ten minutes slots. You sign up in advance, and you have ten minutes to do anything you like relating to science. Organisers have an amazing list of things you might do, from doing a live experiment to performing an interpretative dance.
Science Showoff comes from the people behind The Bright Club and The Geek Calendar and is aimed at everyone, old hands and new to the sci-comm scene. It will be held monthly, with the first event on Tuesday 4th October in the Wilmington Arms, Clerkenwell.
Seems like a lot of advance notice, but sign-up is likely to be the first week in September, so get thinking! Follow the Science Showoff blog and twitter feed for more info and the sign-up link when it comes.
