Secret Agent Laser Obstacle Lunch

Yes. You read it correctly. Secret agent laser obstacle lunch is a game where a player must maneuver though a laser maze in order to acquire a slice of pizza. This is just one of the many hilarious antics I have seen on the CBS show, The Big Bang Theory.

I have been watching this show for quite some time now and just had to share my love of it with the blogosphere. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend it. It follows the lives of two physicists, Leonard Hofstadter (played by Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons), as they attempt to befriend their beautiful neighbor Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco). Along with their two friends Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), they find themselves in awkward social situations when outside the confines of CalTech (where they all work).

This show was recommended to me by a fellow scientist. I don’t think I’ve seen a show quite this funny in a long time. It is as if it was written for the scientific community, as it pokes fun at virtually every science geek stereotype.

They love video games.

They are terrible at sports.

They are great with technology.

They are obsessed with every sci-fi television series.

They build robots.

They love comic books.

They are unusually intelligent.

And most importantly, they are extremely bad with women.

Sheldon (a childhood prodigy) has no social skills what so ever. Leonard, who is in love with Penny, is the wet-noodle type who is seen as just a good friend. Koothrappali can’t even bear to open his mouth in front of a woman (unless he is drunk, of course) and Wolowitz, who is the king of creepy pickup lines, is on a never-ending quest to get a girlfriend (which he will likely never succeed in).

Not only is this show hilarious, it is written in a classical sitcom style, so you can miss an episode and not be out of the loop. You don’t have to feel bad about skipping it when you have to stay late at lab (pun intended). The only down side is that CBS doesn’t have a site like Hulu to stream their shows, so you have to buy episodes from iTunes or get creative.

Still not convinced? Check out my most favorite scene so far. It really embodies Sheldon’s character and made me laugh like no other.

So next time you need some comic relief, check it out. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
