I’d just like to flag up a special event taking place next Monday at Kings Place. The first in a series of Nature-organised debates about Darwin and evolutionary theory will tackle the question: Are we still evolving?.
Darwin-related events are common as pigeons at the moment, but this event should cause a spot of diary checking for several reasons.
- The estimable Dr Henry Gee, whom history will show to be the greatest blogger of this or any other age, is on the panel.
- Other panelists include Professors Susan Blackmore and Andrew Pomiankowski.
- Kings Place is a gorgeous venue, and well worth the trip.
- I’ll be there, and will buy you a drink in the bar afterwards if you’re nice.
And, of course, the subject matter is sure to be stimulating.
If anyone has strong views on the future evolution of our species, Li Kim started a thread in the London forum to get some pre-event debate going. In fact, I’ll buy TWO drinks after the event for whoever can come up with the most imaginative future adaptation that the human body might evolve. Suggestions on the forum.
