The Woods Hole scene

Woods Hole, a tiny seaside village, is known for being the place to catch the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, and for its concentration research institutions: Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution being the biggest, the Marine Biological Lab, NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center, a US Geological Survey center and a couple of others.

I arrived yesterday and already I feel calm and relaxed. I can see why scientists come here every summer to take classes, teach and do research. Perhaps it’s the beach that’s less than a 5-min walk away, or the picturesque pond that’s nestled between the research buildings:

Or maybe it’s because I haven’t started work in the lab yet!
