For he (and she) is a jolly good Fellow

Today, Britain’s most prestigious scientific society welcomed some new faces into the fold. Forty-four new fellows have been inducted into the society including Lyn Evans, the physicist at CERN who was Nature’s newsmaker of the year in 2008. Among the foreign members was John Goodenough, inventor of the Lithium-ion rechargeable battery (which has been something of a commercial success)

Five women were among the inductees (compared with four, by my count, in 2009), among them was Nicola Clayton an experimental psychologist at the University of Cambridge who has done ground breaking work in understanding animal cognition.
