I think I may have mentioned Bright Club before. It’s an evening in which a bunch of UCL academics take to the stage and describe their work to a general audience. They’re also encouraged to make it funny. And they invariably do.
Well, there’s one running tonight, from 8pm in the Wilmington Arms (69 Rosebery Avenue). The show will feature neuroscientists Zarinah Agnew and Benedetto Di Martino, psychologist Andrew Tolmie, and philosopher Silvia Di Bianchi.
We’ll also hear from Valerie Wallace, an expert on our very own dead-celebrity-blogger Jeremy Bentham.
The evening will be hosted by ‘proper standup’ Helen Keen, whose well-honed routine offers an hilarious take on space travel. (Incidentally, Helen and I are scheming away at putting on a series of space-themed geek evenings in the near future…stay tuned for more on those.) ‘Genius’ accordionist Dan Woods completes the set.
Entrance to Bright Club is just £5,and you can pay on the door.
