Imagine spending two days in Nashville with Al Gore and other climate scientists learning how to give compelling talks about climate change. Well, you can live out your dream of being an Al Gore disciple if you’re chosen to participate in the Climate Project Training Program. That’s right, Al Gore and climatologists say they’re going to train more than 1,000 people to give a version of Gore’s talk to community groups across the U.S. about the effects of global warming and solutions to the problem. This presentation is at the center of the documentary and book An Inconvenient Truth (which I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t seen yet, but will this weekend, I hope).
There will be seven training sessions in late-September and in January 2007 where you can learn about the science and how to give an effective presentation. You can apply online. The program is open to anyone regardless of age or educational background. They do have this stipulation though:
“Prospective trainees are expected to have a strong commitment to the well-documented fact that human activity has created a climate crisis, and that we have a moral obligation to take dramatic steps to reduce the gaseous emissions that cause global warming.”
