{"id":2363,"date":"2014-09-19T06:32:56","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T06:32:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.nature.com\/indigenus\/?p=2363"},"modified":"2014-09-22T08:23:30","modified_gmt":"2014-09-22T08:23:30","slug":"ni-photo-contest-finalist-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.nature.com\/indigenus\/2014\/09\/ni-photo-contest-finalist-5.html","title":{"rendered":"NI photo contest: Finalist #5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a week celebrating Indian science through pictures, today we\u00a0bring to you the finalist number five of the first ever <strong><em>Nature India<\/em> photo contest.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The contest announced this July received close to 50 entries from across the world.<\/p>\n<p><em>Nature India<\/em>\u2018s\u00a0editorial and design team will chose one lucky winner. The winning image will be featured on the cover of one of our forthcoming print publications. The winner and two runners-up will receive a copy of the\u00a0<em>Nature India Special Annual Volume<\/em>\u00a0and a bag of goodies from the\u00a0<em>Nature Publishing Group<\/em>. The winners will be announced on\u00a0<strong>September 29<\/strong>, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Through this week, we rolled out the top five finalists of the photo competition (in no particular order of merit). Two more finalists will be announced next week.\u00a0<em>Nature India<\/em>\u2018s final decision to chose the winner will be partly influenced by\u00a0the engagement and reception he\/she receives here at the Indigenus blog, on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NatureInd\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0and on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/npgindia\">Facebook<\/a>. The massive chariot-shaped temple has twelve pairs of wheels symbolising the twelve months, each pair representing the dark and bright halves of the lunar period. The structure was once held together by magnetic force (instead of the conventional brick or stone pillar based support). According to the Archaeological Survey of India, powerful magnets were used as part of the structure.
