The MRS conference wound up yesterday, and I felt a bit sorry for those in the final sessions – everyone seemed to have gone home.
I think conference organisers should arrange a big party for the last night, or maybe have a surprise award in the final session. That should keep bums on seats a while longer. As it was, only me and a handful of others got to hear about creep in woven polymers – putting materials under stress at different temperatures and strains and seeing what effect it has.
Maybe they should have a party at “The miracle of science”, a pub near MIT. It has menus based on the periodic table. So H would be for hamburger, and the price would be where the atomic number should be. Perfect for a bunch of science geeks. I’m looking forward to seeing what they serve as Xenon…
