Nice article! At first I was a bit sceptical about using science fiction to promote science, however, I then remembered my own work with the California Academy of Sciences. I am a physician scientist and also like Halloween – so I ended up combining “mad science” with real science – they had a Halloween exhibit where one side of the hall had scientists talking about their work, and the other side had my mad scientist props and actors following a theme similar to what was talked about on the “real science” side. I stayed on the “mad” science side, doing a werewolf autopsy – it was fun, but I also got a chance to talk about real pathology and infectious diseases (the werewolf had died from a manufactured virus).
