Pay disparities between female and male PhD holders in the United States exist across almost all fields of science and engineering<\/a>, according to a National Science Foundation report.<\/p>\n It can be tricky to plan and carry on fieldwork when you\u2019re pregnant, but there are ways to smooth the path, argues Emily Sohn<\/a>.<\/p>\n Women in science: Fight the brain drain<\/strong><\/p>\n Science has a problem. Women working in this area\u00a0don\u2019t get the credit they deserve<\/a>. They\u00a0get paid less<\/a>. They\u00a0face discrimination<\/a>. They\u00a0face funding disparities<\/a>.
