Communities Happenings\u00a0<\/a>is a weekly post with news of interest to NPG\u2019s online communities. The aim is to provide this info in one handy summary. Listings include tweetups and conferences which we\u2019re attending and\/or organising as well as new online tools, products or cool videos. We also occasionally flag up NPG special offers and competitions plus updates about NPG social media activities such as new accounts you might want to follow. #ReachingOutSci and SoNYC<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Thursday evening, we hosted the\u00a0twelfth instalmen<\/a>t\u00a0of the monthly Science Online NYC (SoNYC)\u00a0discussion series.\u00a0For this month\u2019s event, the topic for debate was,\u00a0Reaching out of the ivory tower<\/a>.\u00a0To prepare for June\u2019s event, Soapbox Science hosted a series of guest posts.\u00a0Over the last two weeks, scientists, writers, enthusiasts, communicators, events organizers, policy makers, lecturers and even a comedian, shared details about how they engage and reach out to the public.\u00a0Find a short summary of every guest post, plus related posts elsewhere in the blogosphere,\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
